PIX is instant. The jurisdiction is not Brazilian

PIX solved the speed of Brazilian deposits. It did not solve where the money goes: an offshore platform, an entity outside CVM's reach, and a tax (IOF) on the conversion that the advertised minimums never mention.

Facts checked on October 22, 2026

Brazilian-facing broker content treats PIX as the headline feature. This guide restores the order of importance: CVM's authorisation line first, the entity second, the rail third — with the rail's real costs counted.

The conversion nobody prices

Funding an offshore account converts BRL to USD (or another base currency) through the platform's processor. The cost is the spread inside the offered rate plus IOF on the exchange transaction. On a R$100 test deposit those frictions are a large percentage of the account; on R$1,000 — our viable floor for Brazil — they shrink to a tolerable toll. Withdrawals repeat the conversion in reverse: the round trip is the real price of the rail.

The CVM line

CVM authorises who may publicly offer trading services in Brazil, and it issues declaratory acts against companies that solicit Brazilians without authorisation — including, in December 2025, companies behind a broker that affiliate sites rank #1 for Brazil. Depositing via PIX does not cross the CVM line by itself; being solicited by an unauthorised platform is the fact pattern CVM polices. Our Brazil page prints the posture and the locally authorised B3 route.

The trap

'PIX accepted' in an ad is a payments statement being sold as a legitimacy statement. CVM's list of authorised institutions is the legitimacy statement.

Before any deposit, run the whole check

The free check gives you the verdict for one country and one broker. The Deposit Safety Kit gives you the complete walkthroughs: how to verify the entity in the broker's own legal footer, where on your regulator's site the register and the warning lists live, how to read a compensation scheme, and the first-withdrawal test protocol — deposit small, withdraw first, then decide.
