The first deposit checklist

Twelve lines. If a line fails, the deposit waits — that is the entire method, and it has never needed a thirteenth line.

Facts checked on October 22, 2026

Print this page. Run it for the exact pair in front of you — your country, the broker asking for your money. The checker computes most of it; the rest is five minutes on registers and lists.

The checklist

1. My country is on the platform's own accepted list. 2. I have read the entity name in the client agreement — not the brand. 3. That entity is on its regulator's register, which I opened myself. 4. I know whether a compensation scheme stands behind it, and its limit — or that the answer is 'none'. 5. I have searched my home regulator's warning/alert list for the platform. 6. I know the legal route in my country and how this pair compares to it. 7. I know the advertised minimum is a machine setting, and I know my country's viable minimum. 8. My first deposit is test-sized, and a full withdrawal is scheduled before any top-up. 9. The deposit will travel on a rail in my own name, to an account in the entity's name. 10. Nobody is onboarding me over a messaging app. 11. I have written down what I will do if the withdrawal is delayed — before it is. 12. I can afford the total loss of this deposit without it changing my month.

The trap

Line 12 is the one the industry hopes you skip. Every protection on this page is about recovering from a firm's failure; none of them recover a deposit you could not afford to lose in the first place.

Before any deposit, run the whole check

The free check gives you the verdict for one country and one broker. The Deposit Safety Kit gives you the complete walkthroughs: how to verify the entity in the broker's own legal footer, where on your regulator's site the register and the warning lists live, how to read a compensation scheme, and the first-withdrawal test protocol — deposit small, withdraw first, then decide.
