Depositing from United States

Is it safe — and legal — to deposit from United States?

The answer is never a brand name. It is your country × the broker: the entity your address gets, the protection behind it, and what the CFTC and NFA (forex), the SEC and FINRA (securities) says. All 40 verdicts for United States are computed below, checked on October 22, 2026.

Facts checked on October 22, 2026

The legal picture in United States

The US is the strictest door in this dataset: retail forex brokers must be CFTC-registered and NFA members, and most offshore brands simply do not accept US residents. Off-exchange binary options sold to US residents are not legal. If a platform with no NFA registration is offering you leverage from a US address, the platform is the problem.

The locally authorised route

The legal routes: CFTC/NFA-registered forex dealers, SEC-regulated brokers for stocks and ETFs, and regulated futures brokers.

The viable minimum in United States

$200 (about $200). US minimums are genuinely low at legal brokers; $200 is where costs stop dominating the account, same arithmetic as everywhere.

Depositing from United States? Take the walkthroughs with you

The free check gives you the verdict for one country and one broker. The Deposit Safety Kit gives you the complete walkthroughs: how to verify the entity in the broker's own legal footer, where on your regulator's site the register and the warning lists live, how to read a compensation scheme, and the first-withdrawal test protocol — deposit small, withdraw first, then decide.
